01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Omurice with demi-glace sauce, a gratin on the side and iced café au lait afterwards: at Cafe de Karora, you can choose between classic café dishes and more substantial meals. One diner who tried this combination found the egg in the omurice fluffy. The potatoes were sold out when they ordered the gratin, so they chose one with hamburger steak instead; hamburger gratin also appears on the menu. There is room to make a meal of a single dish or combine several Western-style favourites.

For a little of everything, the Karora set meal brings together hamburger steak, croquette, fried prawns and a fried egg, served with rice and miso soup. The hamburger steak set meal also comes with a fried egg, rice and miso soup, while the yakiniku set meal includes rice and miso soup. One diner said they enjoyed the tender hamburger steak and croquette at lunch and left feeling full. Other diners have particularly liked the set meals and yakiniku, making them options for those after a rice-based lunch as well as café fare.

For breakfast, a set pairs toast and a boiled egg with coffee or tea, and there are other breakfast options too. A pizza toast set with a mini salad and drink makes a lighter choice; for something more substantial, there are sets featuring dishes such as mini gratin, Italian and a ham roll.

There is plenty to choose from for an after-meal drink or something sweet. The rich chocolate cake is described as being made with high-cocoa chocolate and moist chocolate cream. The Hokkaido pumpkin cake layers pumpkin with cream containing chestnut pieces. Cake sets are also available with a choice of coffee or tea, so you can linger over a drink after your meal. This café in Ikuno-Higashino serves breakfast, lunch and cake, and diners have remarked on the generous portion of the omurice and the quiet setting in which to eat.
